![]() So, is it that Melorae really stuck it out and Pye was a young apprentice during her anglerfish research, and Coleus and Melorae were just real focused on literally anything but that anglerfish for many years after the crash? Or is Pye actually only like 20 Nomai years younger than Coleus, so she's like 60, and her nieces/nephews/etc. (At this point Lami and Laevi must also have come of age, possibly prior to Solanum based on their comments about Solanum still being so small.) By this point Pye is already an apprentice or researcher with them, and Ramie can't be the same age as Lami and Laevi because she's directly involved with the ATP by the time Laevi and Lami are still being restricted from the statues.Ĩ) The White Hole Station is built (rip to anyone who fell through the black hole before now) and the inconsistency in the arrival and departure times is discovered Pye and Ramie experiment and their findings kick off the ATP.ĩ) The ATP becomes a significant piece of the backdrop to Laevi and Lami's lives they write papers on it and are aware of the statues being built and tested.ġ1) Solanum, now of age, travels to the Quantum Moon while Pye heads to the Interloper. This suggests we're only working with 50-60 Nomai years, which is definitely long enough for most of the original generation to die off and bring in a new generation that's never known anything but this system.ġ) Coleus and Melorae hurriedly discover a safe site for the original Ember Twin settlement after the crash, finding the anglerfish fossil in the processģ) Ramie, either a child during the crash or someone born afterward, spends her childhood playing on the fossil.Ĥ) Poke is born on Brittle Hollow at some point after this (since Poke is an adult while they're still children), Laevi and Lami are born on Ember Twin (but appear to spend most of their childhood with easy access to other planets).ĥ) Conoy is born "long after the crash," to someone who must have been a child or young adult at the time of the crash.Ħ) At some point after establishing the Sunless City, Coleus and Melorae return to the anglerfish fossil and discover Pye's nieces/nephews/etc. So, we don't know how long Nomai ACTUALLY live, but let's borrow a human metric for the time being and say Coleus was in his late teens or early 20s during the crash, and is in his Nomai-version of 70s or 80s during the ATP. Meanwhile, by the time Pye goes to see the Interloper (so she must've still been spry enough to do some high intensity sliding), Solanum is of age to go to the Quantum Moon, which she indicates is something all Nomai do when they come of age. And on Giant's Deep they're witnessing the statues being built, and mentioning how they're not allowed to go see so they'll have to sneak in (indicating they're still children). We also have Lami and Laevi appearing in Brittle Hollow and Giant's Deep (seriously they're everywhere) in Brittle Hollow, they're in school writing papers on how it'd be better not to spend so many resources on the ATP. Melorae dies at some undetermined point before the Ash Twin project ever gets off the ground. So maybe she was a child during the crash, and her niece and/or nephew were born after? Pye is never mentioned or referred to during the crash itself, but unlike Poke and Conoy and Idaea (if memory serves) it's never established whether she was born in the system or not. Because another Nomai, Conoy, indicates that his grandmother was one of the survivors, and it's mentioned he was born long after the crash. So, does that mean Coleus and Melorae were living there for years without recognizing the fact that there were generations of children playing on the fossil, or is Pye actually from Coleus's cohort (and therefore quite old?). Presumably these original children could even INCLUDE Pye, since Ramie (her contemporary?) mentions playing on the fossil as a kid-except that a later note has Coleus say he saw the SAME children playing there. The signage throughout Ember Twin isn't really clear about when the adults get access to the fossil Coleus's note about it says the children are already playing on it very shortly after the discovery and suggests that they need to get to it fast. ![]() ![]() ![]() She's described as an aunt to Lami and Laevi (who are in the same age range as Solanum), and tells them (based on her research with Coleus and Melorae) that anglerfish are blind. ![]() One character whose age I am really confused about is (sorry in advance for all this spoilertext) Pye. ![]()
